Biographies: Tony Kanal



Tony Kanal was born on August 27, 1970 in a suburb of London. His parents are of Indian descent. When he was 11, his parents and himself moved to Orange County, California. Tony played bass in the high school jazz band and was influenced by his teacher. Prince was a major musical influence of Tony's. The first concert that he attended was the Purple Rain Tour by Prince. Tony joined the band before their second performance. Soon after, he and Gwen began to date in private. Their relationship lasted 7½ years. During the early years, Tony acted as the band's manager and to this day, still takes part in some of the business affairs. Tony's girlfriend's name is Erin.
