Biographies: Band

No Doubt formed in 1986, but did not play at a show until early 1987. Back then, it as Gwen Stefani and John Francis Spence as singers. Eric Stefani played keyboards and wrote the lyrics.

In late December 1987, John commited suicide by shooting himself in a park at nighttime. Gwen and Eric decided they should keep the band going, so they got another singer, Alan Meade.

A little while after, Alan left the band to start a family with his girlfriend. Tony than joined. In the meanwhile, they were recording and practicing in a studio, and had a regular "peeking tom" whose name was Tom Dumont.

At the time, Tom was recording with his own heavy metal band, called Rising, in which he played guitar. Tom thught that it was a bad scene to be in, so he got out of that band.

On the bulletin board in the studio place, Tom spotted a message posted by No Doubt that said they were looking for a Guitarist. Tom jumped at the thought, and joined the band.

A known groupy, Adrian Young, who was a regular in the Mosh Pit at No Doubt's local concerts heard that No Doubt was looking for a drummer. Adrian was of the band, so he tried to join the band. When they asked him if he had experience on the drums, he said he was very good... even though he had little experience. He joined No Doubt anyways.

In 1992, No Doubt released their debut album called " No Doubt. " Their debut album was a hit with their fans, but didn't receive publicity.

In 1995, No Doubt independently released an album called "The Beacon Street Collection," which was later made into a re-issue. Again, No Doubt didn't gain much publicity.

In late 1995, No Doubt released another album called "Tragic Kingdom." After releasing this album, Eric Stefani left the band to work as an animator for the show "The Simpsons."

"Tragic Kingdom" was a major hit. No Doubt finally got their publicity. It was well earned. No Doubt toured for most of 1996 and 1997 with bands like Bush, Weezer, etc.

On April 11, 2000, No Doubt released their 4th album, Return of Saturn. 3 videos were made for this album: Ex-Girlfriend, Bathwater, and Simple Kind of Life. The album was not as succesful as Tragic Kingdom had been.

On December 11, 2001, Rock Steady was released. This was a less formal album that was recorded over a short period of time. It was time for the band not to be so stressed about making a hit record and they actually had a lot of fun with it. The first single was 'Hey Baby.' The band made a video for this track, which features a naked Adrian Young swinging on gymnast rings. other videos from this album include: Hella Good, Underneath it All, and Running.

On January 1, 2002, Gavin Rossdale finally proposed to Gwen Stefani and they married twice in September of 2002.

After touring for around 2 years after the release of Rock Steady, No Doubt is currently taking a well-deserved "break" and are spending times with their families.
